Usman Khan was born in Abbottabad, Pakistan in 1983. He has received Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (Peshawar, Pakistan) in 2006 and the Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (Topi, Pakistan) in 2008. In January, 2011, he joined University of Tor Vergata (Rome, Italy) as a Ph.D. candidate in Electronic Engineering; where, he is working on the modelling and design of micro-hot-plates with applications in gas sensors, micro-reactors and infra-red emitters. Currently, he is visiting Nano Electronic Science and Engineering Laboratory at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU, South Korea); where, he is working on micro-hot-plates based on two-dimensional materials. His research interests include sensors, actuators, thermal devices, and microsystems.
